Celebrating Lantern Festival
On this day, pedestrians walk under the fiery red lanterns in the sky. This scene reminds me of the two lines of poetry: "Thousands of doors unlock, and ten thousand lamps are lit, In mid-first month, the capital city is bustling." These two lines depict the lively scene of the Lantern Festival.
January is the first month of the lunar calendar. The night of the fifteenth day of the first lunar month is known as the Lantern Festival, which is one of China's traditional festivals. The Lantern Festival mainly involves activities such as admiring the lanterns, eating rice dumplings, and tangyuan.
My mother and I made tangyuan together. My grandmother brought out glutinous rice flour and poured it into a bowl. She then added water to knead the flour into a long strip, cut it into small pieces, and rolled them into small balls. We then dug a hole in the ball, filled it with minced meat, and rolled it into a round shape. We made many tangyuan together. In the evening, we ate the tangyuan we made ourselves.
The Lantern Festival was a joyful day. |
