May 15th, Monday, sunny
As soon as I arrived at my grandfather's office, I saw three potato sprouts with pen refills sticking out of them. The biggest potato had the most sprouts, looking like a cluster of mountain flowers. Underneath the potato was a bottle filled with many thin, long roots resembling jellyfish tentacles or a squid's feelers. The other two potatoes had fewer sprouts and roots, and did not look as impressive as the first one.
One of the potatoes had run out of water, and it was the smallest one. So, I added some water to it, hoping it would grow big and fat instead of being so skinny. The middle potato was neither big nor small, but it had a sprout that looked like a deer antler, pointing right at the smallest potato. I took a bit of its sprout and wondered if they would all grow into little potatoes in the water.
In the end, I decided to name them the eldest, the second and the third. I wonder what they will become in the future and whether they will grow small potatoes in the water. |
